Project description
Arctiinae (Erebidae: Lepidoptera) is a group of nocturnal moths with a high richness in the Neotropical Region. The aim of this project is to analyze genomic data to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships within the genus Episcepsis Butler, 1877 primarily by employing specimens from the Peruvian Amazon. DNA extraction and library building will be performed with the aim to sequence and assemble whole mitochondrial genomes. After a bioinformatic analysis, a phylogenetic tree will be generated. These data will be integrated into a previously completed morphological analysis to provide stronger support for the study’s phylogenetic hypotheses.
